Westmoreland commissioner Ceraso to support Cernic

Ceraso said he will support Cambria County Controller Ed Cernic Jr. in the race. Cernic is one of six Democrats seeking to replace Murtha. Other candidates are former Lt. Gov. Mark Singel, former state treasurer and auditor General Barbara Hafer, former Murtha staffer Mark Critz, Navy veteran Ryan Bucchianeri and Air Force veteran Ron Mackell Jr. Republicans seeking the office include businessman Tim Burns and the 2008 GOP nominee, retired Army officer William Russell. Both the party primaries and a special election to fill the remainder of Murtha's term will be held on May 18.

Ed Cernic Jr. met with Pittsburgh Building Trade Unions on Wed 2/24/10 and spoke to over 25 representatives of various Locals and was well recieved as a friend of labor.

Ed Cernic Jr. Kicked off campaign with a 10 AM announcement at the Cambria County Courthouse followed by a similar announcement in Mt. pleasent, PA at Veterans Park. Mayor Luccia of Mt Pleasent introduced Cernic as a friend and a leader who we need as our next Congressman.
